Audiobook and Philip Baker Hall

I haven't posted much the last few days. I received an offer to produce and narrate my first audiobook, so that has been occupying my time.

I'm really excited and a bit nervous. I know what I'm doing, of course, but I haven't done it regularly, so it's a challenge, of course.

The book is a kind of gay romance Christmas story. It appealed to me. I thought it had a nice message and the characters are interesting. There are also three sex scenes in it, I discovered. Pretty tame by some standards, but still, those will be interesting to record.

It's a pretty easy read. Relatively short book. I think it's a good one to start out with.

Anyway, I'm excited.

My biggest challenge is trying to record and not let Grizzy know. She follows me everywhere, as you know, and the mic is super sensitive and picks her up if she cries. I don't like locking her up but may have to.

The other challenge is I have to turn off the air conditioner while I record, and, of course, that affects Isaias' comfort level, although, fortunately, he tends to run cold rather than hot.

And my third challenge still seems to be optimal much placement. Even with my pop filter, my mouth makes clicking sounds I don't prefer, so I'm trying to minimize those.

In other news, one of my favorite character actors, Philip Baker Hall, died. Such a talented man and worked to the end of his 90-year life.

This is one of my favorite things he ever did, from Seinfeld.

He had a terrific career. He will be missed.
